Description

Lycopodium powder is made from the spores of plants in the clubmoss family. It is extremely flammable when dispersed in air and is therefore often used to demonstrate dust exposure. PS: Not to be used by people under the age of 18.

In ancient times the powder was called the flour of witches due to its use in herbal medicine. When the powder (spores) is dispersed in air, it burns quickly and powerfully. This is because the spores contain a lot of oil, and as the particles are particles they get great access to oxygen.

Lycopodium was previously sold at the pharmacy, but in recent years it has become increasingly difficult to get a hold of.  You could harvest the spores from the plant in the autumn, but you would need a lot of patience to get enough to try the experiment. Our helpers have done the job for you! You will receive our top quality dragon’s breath powder in 100 gram bags (enough to carry out the trick 30-60 times).

Pour some powder on the table and try to light it with a match... and you will fail. But blow the powder through a flame, or scatter it in the air with your hand and light it on the way down, and you will get a powerful and fast-burning flame.

Lycopodium is so effective that back in the day photographers used it as a flash. It has also been used in fireworks, to detect fingerprints, prevent pills from sticking together, visualise sound waves, detect electrostatic charges and in plant medicine. Today it is actually used as a stabiliser in ice cream!

Note that Lycopodium is spores from a plant, an organic product. The packages are weighed to 100 grams when packed, but may change weight (+/- 15%) depending on humidity and storage.

WARNING: This is not a toy. Only sold to people over 18 years of age. Take into account that it is a flammable product and take the necessary precautions. Keep out of the reach of children.
